The Global Costume Design Contest returns for 2024!

This global costume design contest is held in all serviced regions of Guardian Tales and divided largely into 4 divisions: Korea, Southeast Asia, North America/South America, and Europe/Oceania.

Please note that there is no guarantee that a Hero Costume or an Equipment Costume from each region will be selected for in-game creation, but some selected works will! However, fantastic prizes await the 10 winning entries from each participating region group. Be sure to check the event details specific to your region!

Also! To make sure that only your original work is submitted, we will be requesting you to submit a record/rough draft of your design together with the final design. So please make sure to keep records of your progress!

*Submissions for Korea and Southeast Asia's costume design contests must be made through their respective channels.

How to Participate

Submit the Hero Costume and/or Equipment design that you created. (Numerous submissions are allowed but only one of your submissions can compete to be selected as one of the 10 winning entries).

• Please make sure all that's been requested is filled in or the submission may not be accepted.
•  Please note that a Google account is required to upload files via this form.

3. Then we will review the submissions, select the TOP 10 entries, and conduct a vote via another announcement.

YOU MUST ABIDE BY ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:

• Clearly specify which hero the costume is designed for and provide the costume's name.
• Submit both the completed design and a record of the creative process (e.g., sketches or line art).
  • It could be an illustration of your original sketch or pixel art.
  • Submitting front, side, and back views of the costume design will help us judge better!
  • Ideally, design a matching set of a hero costume and equipment costume.
  • Please make sure the Hero Costume design samples are displayed 'on the hero' as in the hero should be wearing it. Please be explicit for which hero it is for. As for the Equipment Costume design samples, please also make it clear what type (i.e. One-handed Sword, Rifle, Basket, etc.) it is.
  • No AI! If your submission is found to be created using AI, it will not be accepted, and any submissions or rewards may be revoked. No plagiarizing and make sure it is your original work.
• There are no restrictions on file formats or size.

Internal screening will narrow down the selections to Top 10 submissions which will then be followed by voting via website and social media channels to decide on the winners.

• Guardian Tales, serviced by Kakao Games Europe B.V. and Kakao Games USA Inc., operates in North America, Oceania, Europe, and South America. To ensure fairness and provide more opportunities for each region, we have divided the contest into two divisions.
• The rewards will be selected from the combined submissions of both Hero Costume and Equipment Costume designs, with a total of 10 winners. You do not need to create both costume designs to be eligible for these prizes.
  • Although you can be selected only once to receive any of the in-game reward prizes for submitting both hero and costume designs, both of your designs will have a chance to be created in-game.
• These event rewards are exclusively for the NA/SA and EU/OC regions. Submissions for Korea and Southeast Asia's costume design contests must be made through their respective channels.

Event Notice

• The Top 10 winners will be selected through internal screening by the Community Manager Team at Kakao Games Europe B.V. and Kakao Games USA Inc. Please note that the Top 10 winners will be chosen from the combined submissions of Hero Costumes and Equipment Costumes.
• There is no guarantee regarding how many Hero Costumes or Equipment Costumes from each division will be created in-game at a later date. This means that while any of the Top 10 winning entries could become an in-game costume, it does not ensure that the Grand Prize winner's costume will be created.
• Hero Costumes selected to be created in-game will be made as regular Hero Costumes, not Super Costumes.
• Eligible submissions must meet all the requirements outlined in the [How to Participate] sections, and must be in English.
• You may submit multiple entries, but please submit under one account (and Google Form). Editing of responses is possible until the submission deadline.
• Designs containing inappropriate, trolling, abusive, inflammatory, or violent content that violate our terms and policies, or breach online conduct guidelines, will be rejected.
• Plagiarism is strictly prohibited! Your submission will be disqualified if it contains copied elements from others' creations. Please ensure your work is original.
• Artwork created using AI tools or software is strictly forbidden as well. You may be asked to submit additional proof that your work is an original work by providing intermediate stages (sketches, guidelines), to prove that it is your original work.
• If your account is deleted or banned for violating game policies during the event/reward period, you will be disqualified from the event and will not be eligible to receive any rewards, even under a new account.
• Voting on the submissions will be held via a separate notice to follow. Also, the reward distribution method will be announced in the winner announcement post.
• The "2024 Global Costume Design Contest" is open to players of Guardian Tales who reside and launch the game in the regions of North America, Europe, Oceania, and South America, where the game is serviced. As this is a global contest, a separate version is being held for South Korea and Southeast Asia. Players in those regions must submit their designs through the respective social media channels for those countries.
• The winning submissions may be partially adapted and implemented in-game at the discretion of the game's developers. The designs may be refined and polished as they are integrated into the game as costumes or equipment.
• If a winning submission includes both a Hero and an Equipment Costume in the design, there is a chance that both Hero Costume and the Equipment Costume could be created in-game.
• By submitting your Hero Costume and/or Equipment Costume design or artwork ("Entry"), you agree to grant Guardian Tales full Intellectual Property and Publicity Rights to your unique work. Specifically, by submitting an Entry, you hereby grant Kakao Games Europe B.V. and Kong Studios, along with their affiliated companies, a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free license to use your name, email address, city and state of residence, or other information provided by you (“Personal Information”) to identify your Entry in the Uses, without any obligation for attribution or compensation.
• As used here, “Uses” refers to the uploading and posting of your Entry (or derivative works) on Guardian Tales’ official Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Discord channels, the official Guardian Tales website, and other platforms, as well as the exploitation of your Entry (or derivative works) in any format or medium, whether current or future. This includes, but is not limited to, merchandising (such as in-game Hero or Equipment Costumes), events, and other promotional activities. You understand that the Uses licensed to Kakao Games Europe B.V., Kakao Games USA INC., and Kong Studios may include: public display of your Entry on Guardian Tales and external websites; the creation of Entry collections for commercial sale, incorporating your Entry alongside other entrants’ submissions, including photos, videos, and text; and the integration of your Entry into Guardian Tales mobile game products.
