AVVISI APR 6. 2023 NEW DIRECTOR LETTER, BOOGANG KIM

Greetings from the new Executive Director, Boogang Kim.

Hello to all the Guardians who love Guardian Tales.

I'm Boogang Kim, and I'll be leading the Guardian Tales development team as the Executive Director.

I've been making games for a long time, but I've never had this kind of direct communication before, so I'm sure my name is unfamiliar to many of you, thus I thought I'd write a short introduction.

I'm a game designer who started making games with RPG Maker when I was an immature adolescent.
I was a... slightly embarrassing teenager who was on a rampage to put the stories I made into games and get them out to a wider audience somehow, and that hasn't changed now that I've turned it into a career.

My goal is to make games with inspiring stories, and to get them in front of as many people as possible. Even though I've been working on a variety of games for over 20 years, that goal hasn't changed and probably never will.
I'm a strong believer in the power of stories told through the medium of games.

It was two years ago that I came across Guardian Tales.
I became a Guardian of Kanterbury, drew my champion sword, and traveled through time and across the realms, frantically following the beautiful story.
It's been a journey of warm smiles and cold realities, casual laughter and overwhelming tears, just like all of you may have experienced yourselves.
Eventually, I couldn't resist the urge to co-create this story and knocked on the door of Kong Studios.

As a member of the development team, I could feel the intensity with which they had been working on Guardian Tales.
I also realized how eager they were to change or rather, evolve the game.
For a game that was over two years old, Guardian Tales was catching its breath, with so many stories and so many possibilities.

Now, from my privileged position as the Executive Director, I'm taking on the challenge of evolving the game, trusting in the strength of the team that has kept it alive.
We aim to bring more Guardians to Guardian Tales, a game with an inspiring story, so we're preparing for Season 3 to fill in the gaps that we've felt as Guardians ourselves for the past two years.

First of all, the long wait was actually the biggest disappointment for me as a Guardian. For Guardian  Tales to have an immersive story, we will maintain the same level of story content to ensure you get the most satisfaction.

However, the Main World, which is the soul of Guardian Tales, will continue to be developed by the entire Main World team full-time.  We will continue to prioritize stable and regular updates, while balancing volume and schedule.

It was also sad to see that Guardians do not visit Kanterbury as much after clearing the new World contents. To share Guardian Tales with even more Guardians, Season 3 aims to bring all Guardians together to enjoy the latest updates.
We'll be adjusting the difficulty of each world, overhauling the clutter of evergreen content, and introducing a more accessible lobby and new contents to Season 3. We want to make sure that all Guardians can enjoy each other's company and look forward to the next world update.

And finally, I promise to make this sudden change an evolution.
I've seen first-hand how our previous director, Sangwon Kim, earned the trust of our players, and how he poured his heart and soul into leading the development team.

That's why I will do my best to be a responsible director, not just a nameless planner, I will prove to you that your concerns and worries will be turned into support and interest in Guardian Tales.

For now, I'm greeting you in letters only, but come July, I will be organizing opportunities to communicate directly with you in some way.
I'll try to come back after a long maintenance break so we can talk and share some more to make promises for the best of Guardian Tales.

Thank you.
